Rep.-elect George Santos, who has admitted to “embellishing” his resume on his way to winning the election for New York’s 3rd District, is insisting he is not a fraud in a new interview.
The 34-year-old explained on the video blog “Political Personalities with Skye” that “it’s the time of year that usually emotions are high, and then you had the weight of your world on your shoulders, and they just become higher.”
Santos admitted that he lied about graduating college, working for Goldman Sachs and Citigroup, and owning 13 different properties.
He has also clarified remarks he made on the campaign trail suggesting his grandparents escaped the Holocaust and fled to Brazil. He told the New York Post that he never claimed to be Jewish and is clearly Catholic.
In his “Political Personalities” interview, Santos continued to say “words can’t express 100% how I feel, but I’m still the same guy – I’m not a fraud.”
