The Pueblo Association of Realtors hosted its annual awards banquet on Sept. 17, recognizing Mike Spoone of RE/MAX Associates as Realtor of the Year.
Spoone was presented the Thomas J. Downen award for his local, state, civic and business accomplishments. The Arthur C. Leach Outstanding Salesperson of the Year award went to Mark Ditkof of Keller Williams Performance Realty, recognizing his ethical conduct and principles, service to customers and volume of business.
The Rookie of the Year award went to Angela Ayala of Norm Murphy and Associates. Lifetime Achievement Awards went to Dan Molello and Greg Hahn, both of RE/MAX of Pueblo who have served the community for more than 50 years.
Pueblo artist honored at Indianapolis western art museum
Pueblo Artist Nathan Solano received the Harrison Eiteljorg Purchase Award during the Sept. 9-10 Quest for the West Art Show and Sale at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art in downtown Indianapolis.
His painting, “Portrait of a Cowboy,” was acquired for the museum by the Western Art Society and is now a part of the museum’s permanent collection.
CSU Pueblo promotes three employees
Colorado State University Pueblo’s Gena Alfonso has been promoted to public information officer and director of marketing, while Jenna Lovato has accepted the position of director of events, sales and marketing. Lucie Menjivar will act as the interim assistant dean of student engagement, events and leadership.
Alfonso replaces Greg Hoye, who retired after serving 30 years in higher education. Alfonso has worked at the university since 2009, most recently serving as assistant dean of student engagement and is an alumna of CSU Pueblo, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in mass communications.
Lovato, who has worked at the university for nearly a decade managing the award-winning student radio station, will be responsible for managing external events, maximizing opportunities with the public and marketing efforts for Aladdin Campus Dining. Menjivar has extensive experience working at larger institutions and brings a new perspective on how to implement ideas from larger schools to CSU Pueblo’s tight-knit campus.
Valentine Engineering moves to new location
Structural engineering consultant Jim Valentine has moved his Valentine Engineering business to a new location at 1108 N. Main St.
Valentine has been in business in Pueblo since 2000. The office opened at the new location Monday and is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The business phone is 719-542-9230.
