FARGO — Two local businesses were selected as the recipients of fourth-quarter 2022 loan funding from the North Dakota Department of Commerce’s North Dakota Development Fund.
Be More Colorful, which is based in Fargo, received $725,000 worth of funding from the department. Be More Colorful was founded by Matt and Katie Chaussee.
One the video production company’s key initiatives is CareerViewXR. The virtual reality platform offers real-life glimpses of careers across a wide range of fields. CareerViewXR is designed to help students explore career possibilities and showcase open positions across the state.
Uncle Charlie’s Gourmet Snacks was the second business chosen for the loan. Also based in Fargo, Uncle Charlie’s received $145,000.
Uncle Charlie’s was founded by Clayton Cottman, a Washington, D.C. native who first discovered the snack food puppy chow when he moved to North Dakota. He launched his business creating unique takes on the snack. Now, Uncle Charlie’s puppy chow is carried in grocery stores throughout the area and sold on the company’s website.
“Businesses across North Dakota continue to thrive due to the state’s favorable business climate, which not only encourages start-ups and expansions but also provides resources and professional support for all stages of growth,” the deparement’s Director of Economic Development and Finance Rich Garman stated via news release. “The North Dakota Development Fund continues to be a valuable asset for expanding our state’s economy.”
