That’s about all it takes for Chicago’s Emmy-winning Manual Cinema to create worlds within worlds. Since 2010, the multi-hyphenate artists of the 12-year-old film and video production company/design studio/performance collective have taken their intricate, subtly spectacular blend of shadow puppetry, live theater and richly detailed, ultra-low-tech animation from the theaters of Chicago to the screens of blockbuster movies to the stages of Tehran. This winter Manual Cinema reboots one of their more elaborate offerings. It’s actually more of world premiere than a reboot: “Manual Cinema’s Christmas Carol” is no longer a streaming production created…

DALL·E is a new AI that turns text descriptions into images. It’s just been launched publicly, but Spark Foundry gained beta access in April, giving us time to test the system and assess its potential. The execution is simple, you type a description of the image you want to make, and DALL·E generates it for you. For example, we asked it for “a photo of knitted chocolate chip cookies on a yellow background”. It created the following image: I won’t go into how it works or the commercialisation of the tool, but rather what opportunities this creates for media and…

So the Web3 and crypto capital markets seem like they are broken,” AVA Labs President John Wu…

Some may say that cannabis is a product that sells itself, but in America’s current green rush, things aren’t quite that simple. Businesses need to find new ways to compete and stand out in an oversaturated licensed market. Not to mention, we as a cannabis industry are limited in what promotional platforms we can use and how we can use them; each business — even non-plant-touching companies within the space — must follow rigorous (and often convoluted) guidelines for digital advertising and marketing as it relates to our green products and services. The solution? Build strategic partnerships with lifestyle companies…
