NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The New Hartford Police Department is reporting that on September 27th, a Clinton man was charged with a felony for allegedly driving his van into a local business over a domestic dispute.
Around 10:20 pm on Tuesday, members of the New Hartford Police and New York Mills Fire Department’s arrived at Spa Point Nails business located in the Orchard Plaza on Clinton Street after receiving a report that a van drove into the building. The first officers on the scene allegedly found a Toyota Sienna van that was actively being driven and destroying the interior of the business, by 53-year-old Wenzhu Hong of Clinton.
Officers were eventually able to stop Hong and take him into custody. Investigators believe Hong had prior connections to the business and was upset due to an ongoing domestic issue.
Wenzhu Hong has been arrested and charged with the following:
- Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree (Class D Felony)
- DWI (Misdemeanor)
Hong has been arraigned and is currently being held in the Oneida County Jail on bail.
