The Asian Contents & Film Market 2022, which will be held as an on-site event for the first time in 3 years, aims to revitalize the enthusiastic atmosphere of the event site. In addition, through pitching sessions of the newly launched Busan Story Market (BSM), original IPs of Korean and Asian novels, webtoons, and web novels will be introduced to domestic and international industry professionals.
While in-depth discussions by leading figures of each category of the K-content industry was dominant last year, this year’s conference is garnering attention with the expansion of on-site pitching opportunities and an increased number of forums on the future and Asian film industries.
Participated by Keo Lee, Netflix Korea’s Director of Content, scriptwriter Chung Seokyung of Decision to Leave, and US production companies including Double Hope Films and United Talent Agency, this year’s ‘BSM Forum’ will discuss the definition of K-Story, which has been gaining global popularity, and explore strategies for future development and expansion of Busan Story Market (BSM) to the global stage. Active collaboration cases on IP adaptation in the industry will be shared through the ‘Cooperation Between Korea and Japan IP Business: It’s harvest time!’ session by CJ ENM and TOEI ANIMATION. Furthermore, several Pitch & Match sessions, provided to demonstrate the potential of various audiovisual adaptations of original IPs in each country, are accumulating expectations.
‘BUSAN CINEMA STUDIOS – XR TECH LAB Technology SEMINAR’, will focus on Virtual Productions and discuss the paradigm shift in video production technologies and the direction of the production environment. Furthermore, with the theme of the ‘AI Voice to Revolutionize Film Industry’, the AI voice technology company SUPERTONE will impress the audience with exemplary cases of voice creation, voice conversion, script change, and its expansion of the acting criteria, that can be utilized in producing audiovisual content.
In addition, there will be diverse projects in partnership with domestic film festivals. Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) will introduce strange tales by 8 new creators through the pitching session, BIFAN GOEDAM CAMPUS, which indicates the expansion of the minor genre film industry and, simultaneously, aims to discover and introduce a broader range of projects and original IPs in connection with the domestic film festival.
The BSM Legal Seminar, which discusses legal issues of the use of original works, and ‘AFiS X NAPNet FORUM’, which seeks ways to bridge the gap between sub-regions of Asia and boost collaborations between filmmakers on a larger scale, will provide ACFM participants with practical information.
The ACFM Conference, which is highly anticipated for its seminars of innovative companies and expanded pitching opportunities where diverse original IPs can be found, will take place from Oct 8 (Sat) to Oct 11 (Tues) at the ACFM 2022 event venue, Exhibition Center 2, BEXCO.
