Good morning, Phoenix! I’m here in your inbox per usual to get you up to speed on everything you need to know about what’s going on around town.
But first, today’s weather:
Partly sunny. High: 67 Low: 43.
Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:
- Phoenix-based Vestar, a national retail developer, recently purchased north Phoenix mall property in a state land auction. Vestar first developed the $180 million Phoenix mall, Desert Ridge Marketplace property, in 2001 and entered into a long-term ground lease. The property is 115 acres, and Vestar has not yet revealed its plans for the mall. (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
- A “once in a generation” winter storm is expected to impact Christmas travel to and from Phoenix into this weekend. The storm will bring over a foot of snow and potential blizzard conditions with “life-threatening” wind chills to the Midwest. By the weekend, the storm is projected to become a bomb cyclone, impacting all forms of travel and canceling thousands of flights. (Arizona’s Family)
- A Phoenix-area jerky store owner recently opened up about his battle with addiction. Scott Reed, who owns Reed’s Western Jerky, tore his ACL while skateboarding which propelled his 15-year addiction to opioids. He was then homeless for a year, but after spending some time in jail, he entered rehab, got clean, and started his successful business. (FOX 10 News Phoenix)
